Society Relocates to Museum Gallery and Research Room The Plainfield Historical Society has moved from its longtime Main Street Museum to a temporary home at Plainfield Plaza. Historic Turner-Mottinger House Stabilization to Begin This fall, the Society will begin long-awaited stabilization work at the Turner-Mottinger House, lifting the structure to repair and rebuild its foundation. Once restored, the site will help tell the story of Plainfield’s abolitionists and the freedom-seekers aided through the Underground Railroad. READ MORE

Monuments on the Move The historic Wheatland Plowing Match memorial monuments will be removed and stored in August 2025 to allow for roadway improvements. A redesigned site—including a new plaza and interpretive marker—will reopen with a public rededication ceremony in fall 2026. READ MORE
